Quality of Life Questionnaires

TransCom developed a process of cultural and linguistic adapation of Quality of Life questionnaires that goes beyond translation and delivers valid equivalent questionnaires for each country in a multinational clinical trial.

While quality of life questionnaires for almost every type of condition have well established and tested English versions, their versions in other languages are either nonexistent or untested. As a parameter which is often part of a trial’s major endpoints, it is important to be sure that all versions of the questionnaires are valid, and that the data collected using them is comparable between different countries and cultures.

TransCom believes that a simple translation process is not satisfactory in order to create these new versions of the questionnaires, and that a process of cultural and linguistic adaptation is critically important. For example, a weekly visit to church may be valid criteria for quality of life measurement in some cultures, while in others visits to church are uncommon under any condition.  TransCom teams of psychiatrists and experts from any required medical field can perform this adaptation, providing you with valid, equivalent questionnaires for each country in which your trial is held.
